Moving in

If you are moving into the squares, it may look like an impossible task to get the removal van and your furniture anywhere near your house. It can be done, and has been by many people in the past. There are two things that can work in your favour:

  1. Parking on the squares is a lot easier after 9am on a weekday and a removal van can parallel park and leave enough room for cars to pass.
  2. If you happen to buy a house near the ends of the squares, the removal van can park in the back lane running perpendicular to the square (that is, parallel to Pollokshaws Road and Moray Place). The furniture can then be unloaded into the back door of the house.

    We struggled to get hold of an electrician to fit some more sockets round the house and a new consumer unit. Most said it was too small a job for them. Home Glow were OK, did a good job and were able to get to us pretty quickly but I suspect it was at quite a premium. I’d probably try to get some more quotes in the future though, just to compare.
